Upstate Amish

Photo reportage of Stone Arabia’s Amish during the Summer of 2023. Multiple visits Upstate yielded these photographs made during interactions with the Amish at their wooden road stands and farms. Amish migration in the Mohawk Valley started in 1986. The newish population in New York is more fragmentary compared to the more established settlements they migrated from like Pennsylvania and Ohio. This is an ongoing project with future hopes of getting intimate with a community to better understand their beliefs and way of living.
